SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Safety Housekeeping Clearing Trays/Sorting Material *Keep Area Clean* EZ Press-on tires Seesaw Load wheel trays vs baskets Rollers B3 Trays Cabinets/Metal Prep Production Check oven temperatures Help maintain organization of King Mill/VTL staging area and production Safety Knows and complies with all safety policies and procedures.
Ensures adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
Reports unsafe and/or potentially dangerous situations to supervisory personnel.
Housekeeping Ensures adherence to all housekeeping standards for assigned work center.
Follows proper spill cleanup procedures.
Is aware of and participates in 5S based projects.
Clearing Trays/Sorting Material *Keep Area Clean* Keep the schedule up to date on the four ovens in your work area Includes PC1, PC2, PC3, and PC9 Start shift by looking at each oven’s schedule and plan your day accordingly Pull trays/baskets as close to their Projected Pull Time as possible All trays with a Projected Pull Time on your shift are your responsibility If you pull a tray from the oven, the tray must be cleared, and material must be properly sorted/identified Any items that are palletized in your work are must have transfer tickets or an Item Inventory Tag associated with them Any pallet that is “full” must be wrapped, tagged and in a rack or taken to the next location (by you or another material handler) If a pallet is partial, and there is more material to come from the oven on a later shift, you can leave the pallet in the work area with a proper transfer ticket Use this process to maximize floor space by the end of your shift so the next worker does not have to clean that area (In retail this is called “Close to Open” EZ Press-on tires Use Transfer Tickets to create Item Inventory Tags and properly tag each basket before the tires are sorted.
Nothing should go in a basket without an associated Item Inventory Tag.
Stack tires neatly in baskets Not all tires are sorted in EZ baskets.
If the transfer ticket states it will go to VTL next, the material can be palletized in the work area If the tire is an LOD (>22” outside diameter), set aside in an agreed upon area and make a note that a double cure is required (601 and 603 tires) As soon as you have available oven space (ask B1 Line Leader or Poly Supervisors) you can put LOD tires back in for their double cure All double cures must be in oven (space permitting) by End of the week.
Load wheels are sorted in either small metal baskets or small plastic totes When a round of load wheels is complete/job is fulfilled, take the container of load wheels to the Finish Staging area If a basket of tires is full, or if the job is complete, add a count to the Item Inventory Tag and take the tires to plant 2 When LOD tires come out of the oven and have been through a double cure, write “DC” on the tire in chalk/marker and palletize.
When a pallet is “full” wrap, tag, and rack in King Mill staging area.
Seesaw All Seesaw are sorted into Large Plastic Totes by size and color.
02s are the smallest size.
03s are 18.
5” Each tote must be properly labelled with an Item Inventory Tag.
Transfer ticket should indicate the Item Identification When a tote is full, add a count and date to the Item Tag and take the tote to the Finish Stage Seesaw rack (if space permits, they can be taken to plant 2) Note* Date is extremely important as we are trying to practice First in First out in our trimming operations.
Load wheel trays vs baskets: When separating Load wheel trays, make sure that Seesaw 02s, Watson plugs and tubes are not left on the load wheel trays.
When you are sure the load wheel tray contains only load wheels, the tray can be taken to the Finish Stage Loadwheel rack.
Always return with an empty tray if possible so there is space for the next tray at the staging area Loadwheel baskets are taken from PC1 Do not forget about this oven Make sure the basket of load wheels has an appropriate transfer ticket or means of identification.
It can be taken directly from the oven to the Finish Staging area Rollers There are rollers in the PC2 oven.
These are also your responsibility to clear and should be maintained as part of the PC2 oven schedule Place items from the rollers on the table near PC9 If time permits, sort and stack these items so they can be taken to their proper destination Sorted items must have an associated transfer ticket.
B3 Trays When the B3 has a tray ready to be placed in PC2, you are responsible for putting this tray in the oven.
You should also be properly logging these trays in the oven.
If you have questions, ask the line leader at the B3 or a supervisor.
The line workers should be asking you to do this for them.
The most important piece of this is that you are logging the trays into the oven schedule properly Don’t let the line workers take your truck from you.
They should be relying on you, not the other way around.
Cabinets/Metal Prep Production When metal prep has completed the bonding process for the various materials, you can move them to their proper line The lines include B1, B3, A3, and the Rubber floor.
B3 cabinets are staged across from the B3 near your floor space.
A3 pallets are staged behind PC2 in their incoming/outgoing floor space.
B1 parts are taken to the rack areas near mold storage.
Rubber floor has multiple staging areas.
Cabinets of trackpads are taken to the T16.
Cabinets of rims are taken to the area the RI bin.
Pallets are taken to the corner near Hub Lathes LOD pallets are taken to the T16.
Check oven temperatures: The temperature of each oven needs to be documented at least once per shift.
A procedure for checking temperatures can be obtained from the poly supervisors.
Help maintain organization of King Mill/VTL staging area and production: If it is in your way and can be moved, take the parts to their new destination.
You can also move King Mill production if they ask; however, metal pieces going to the King Mill are not your responsibility Metal pieces leaving the King Mill for another work center can be your responsibility, but it doesn’t have to be unless you need it moved.
Try to keep parts on pallets and in the rack spaces if they are available Do not stack things several parts deep on the floor unless there is no available rack space You can use rack space across from King Mill Receiving as overflow as long as there are open spaces next to the track pads.
