Chautauqua County Department of Health seeks to fill two (2) Full-Time (at 40 hours/week) Registered Professional Nurse II (County Jail) positions.
As a Registered Profession al Nurse II (County Jail) you will be responsible for nursing assessment, diagnosis and care to inmates at the Chautauqua County Jail.
Nursing duties are diversified within the guidelines of accepted practice.
Assignments and supervision are received from a Registered Nurse Supervisor and a Physician.
Does related work as required.
*Typical Job Duties**:*
· Performs inmate health assessments, including the gathering of health history information and general physical examination;
· Responds to requests for medical treatment within the jail, triage patients and provide necessary medical treatment, or refer to Jail physician or other health care providers or facilities as needed;
· Manages inmate medications including, ordering, inventory monitoring, storage, security and return of prescription medications and other general medical supplies;
· Transcribes physician's orders to inmate medical charts and files and performs all related record keeping for same;
· Does related record keeping;
· Counsels Correction officers as necessary to insure proper delivery of inmate medication and/or treatment;
· Assists Jail Physician as required.
This position is being filled on a provisional basis pending the outcome of a future dated Civil Service examination for this title.

*Must Meet Minimum Qualifications*: Possession of a license issued by New York State to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse at the time of application, appointment, and during service in this classification.
*NOTE**:* Candidates who possess credentials from other states for which New York maintains reciprocity will be approved conditionally pending proof of New York State Certification.
