Our Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) unit offers comprehensive care in a supportive and family-centered environment.
We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled LDRP Nurse to join our team and contribute to the well-being of our patients and their families.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* *Labor and Delivery Care:*
* Provide expert nursing care during labor, including monitoring fetal heart rate, administering medications, and supporting women through the birthing process.
* Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective management of labor and delivery.
* Advocate for patient preferences and provide emotional support to women and their partners during labor and birth.
* *Recovery and Postpartum Care:*
* Assess and monitor postpartum women for signs of complications, including hemorrhage, infection, and breastfeeding difficulties.
* Provide education and support to new mothers on newborn care, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and contraception options.
* Assist with newborn assessments, including vital signs, feeding, and bonding activities, promoting early parent-infant attachment.
* *Patient and Family Education:*
* Educate patients and their families about childbirth preparation, labor expectations, pain management options, and newborn care practices.
* Provide guidance on self-care measures, including nutrition, exercise, and relaxation techniques during pregnancy and postpartum recovery.
* Offer resources and referrals to support services, such as lactation consultants, childbirth classes, and community-based programs.
* *Documentation and Recordkeeping:*
* Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and responses in the electronic health record (EHR).
* Complete birth certificates, newborn screenings, and other required documentation according to regulatory standards and hospital policies.
* Ensure compliance with documentation protocols and confidentiality guidelines to protect patient privacy and security.
* *Quality Improvement and Interdisciplinary Collaboration:*
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary rounds to enhance the quality and safety of care in the LDRP unit.
* Collaborate with nurses, physicians, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement evidence-based practices and policies.
* Contribute to staff education and training programs to enhance clinical competencies and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
*Qualifications:*
* Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of New York.
* Minimum of [2] years of clinical nursing experience, with specialized experience in obstetrics and maternal-newborn care preferred.
* Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required; certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be preferred.
* Strong clinical assessment skills and knowledge of obstetric and neonatal nursing principles and practices.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to provide compassionate care to women and their families during childbirth.
