The YWCA Bradford seeks to hire full-time Prevention Education Specialist in the Victims' Resource Center (VRC) program.
The VRC Prevention Education Specialist provides education on the prevention of domestic violence and sexual assault to both adults and children through school and community based presentations.
They also are instrumental in the training of other professionals in the community on the issues surrounding domestic violence and sexual assault.
Provides daily support , information, counseling, and advocacy to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors requesting program services.
* Bachelor's degree in education, child development, human services or related field preferred but not required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including a minimum of two years experience with a domestic violence/sexual assault program.
Experience working with children in a school setting and with public speaking desired.
* Current valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and access to vehicle with current registration, inspection, insurance, and available at all times during working and on-call hours.
Provides: * Develops and presents age appropriate prevention education programs on domestic violence and sexual assault issues for children in both school and community settings.
* Assures all program educational programming is primary prevention focused.
* Develops and presents educational programs for adult community groups.
* Develops and presents educational programs for community social services and school systems designed to familiarize their staff members with out program services and expand their basic understanding of domestic violence and sexual assault issues.
Ensures sufficient organization and materials before each presentation or training.
* Evaluates each training segment and overall training program for its effectiveness.
Assures all outcome measures data is provided to the Program Director for appropriate tracking and analysis.
* Develops and maintains contacts within our county school systems, social services, medical service providers and religious communities to better promote program prevention education offerings.
* Provides crisis intervention, advocacy, and empowerment counseling in response to all individual requests for program services.
* Assists with routine case management duties requiring thorough discussion of the program participant’s needs related to: safety issues, housing, finances, employment, transportation, parenting issues, legal issues, counseling needs, etc.
* Transports/accompanies program participants to appointments/hearings as are necessary.
* Follows established child abuse reporting and adult protective services reporting procedures as outlined in program policies.
Explains mandated reporter status and legal definitions to program participants.
* Understands and upholds confidentiality regarding program participants and other sensitive issues, following agency and departmental policies and procedures related to the release and disclosure of confidential information.
* Coordinates services within the department, with other agency departments, and external service providers to the fullest extent possible while maintaining program participants’ rights to privacy and confidentiality.
* May facilitate support groups for survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault as directed.
* Prepares file notes, consistently maintaining objectivity, professionalism, and concern for program participant safety and security.
Records service provision hours and updates case management activities daily.
* Responds to both crisis and non-crisis callers and visitors to the VRC and Emergency Shelter during business hours.
* Notifies survivors of the availability of Crime Victims Compensation.
Provides support and assistance to all survivors in the documentation, preparation, submission, and follow-up of claims.
* Assists in the program’s development and implementation of special community events including: health fairs, workshops, seminars, and other special activities to promote public awareness during domestic violence and sexual assault months.
Attends these events as required.
* Assumes responsibility for hotline on-call duties as assigned.
