*Job description*
Community Eye Care Specialists is seeking a *qualified,* *upbeat, high-energy, friendly, enthusiastic* individual to join our amazing team as a full-time *surgical* and *ophthalmic technician* to play an integral part in what we're all about—helping people see! In this role, you'll be assisting the Ophthalmologist in the Operating room and Optometrist with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures.
*Duties and Responsibilities – Surgical Technician*
* Gathering and organizing all surgical tools needed for a procedure
* Assisting surgeon by handing them tools, preparing operating room for surgery, and re-sterilizing the operating room post-surgery
* Sterilizes, counts, and carefully arranges instruments during ocular surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile environment
*Duties and Responsibilities – Ophthalmic Technician*
* Perform a variety of routine tests using ophthalmic instruments that provide diagnostic information including, but not limited to, intraocular pressures, basic motility, visual fields, A-SCAN ultrasonography, and fundus photography.
* Maintains well detailed completed charts prepared for Doctors.
* Assist the Doctors during diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, including instrumentation, sterile preparation, and documentation.
* Administers topical medications or diagnostic drugs as required by the Doctor for testing or treatment.
* Prepare and position patient for diagnostic tests and procedures
* Assist the Doctor with patient education pertaining to the treatment prescribed.
* Maintains instruments or equipment.
* Measures distance and near visual acuity using appropriate tests.
* Analyze spectacles using a lensometer and knowing the difference between single vision, bifocal, trifocal, or progressive lenses.
* Handles Equipment properly in office and traveling.
* Assist in other areas in the office when needed including but not limited to, reception, billing, and optical prn.
* Interview patients and document ocular and medical histories.
