Job Description Job Title: Payroll Administrator Employment Type: Full Time Department: Finance Reports To: Controller Back-up: Controller Working Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm Location: TPT East FLSA: Salary Exempt Overall Focus: Administers payroll related functions of the company.
Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data, ensuring the accuracy of timesheets, computing wages, and ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time.
Maintains employee data, addressing payroll-related questions and completing any other tasks necessary for monitoring and overseeing a company's payroll process.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions • Perform weekly, special, and annual payroll activities for all hourly, salaried, part-time, and temporary employees of TPC companies in a manufacturing environment using biometric and punch card time clocks in conjunction with a third-party payroll system.
• Administer the biometric and punch card time clocks, enrolling new employees and ensuring smooth and continuous operation.
• Edit and approve any/all timecards as needed when appropriate supervisors are unable to do so.
• Address payroll/timekeeping issues, correct errors and troubleshoot problems to ensure all employees are paid correctly.
• Process garnishments, wage attachments, and tax levies for payroll deduction.
• Terminate employees in third-party payroll system, ensuring all company and plan policies are followed.
• Generate, format, and distribute required or requested payroll-related reports.
• Prepare, submit, and fund weekly retirement plan contributions.
• Champion payroll initiatives such as direct deposit and access to online pay statements.
• Process and approve payroll for temporary employees for all temp agencies.
• Troubleshoot, research, and resolve any issues that may arise among the temp agencies' payrolls.
• Ensure new hires have completed and submitted all required documentation; advise HR of missing items to be collected from employees.
• Ensure accurate and timely employee health care and benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations within all third-party systems (including but not limited to retirement, medical, dental, vision, life/ADD/LTD/supplemental insurance plans).
• Complete COBRA forms for employees upon termination or other qualifying events.
• Complete unemployment paperwork and dispute claims that should be disputed.
• Reconcile and submit quarterly Local Services Tax (LST) returns.
• Reconcile and approve benefit-related AP invoices.
• Track and report employee paid time off.
• Track and ensure receipt of all benefit premiums owed and paid by employees on leave.
• Assist newly acquired companies in setting up employees in and troubleshooting third-party systems.
• Assist in audits as needed and able.
• Other miscellaneous duties as required.
Qualifications – Knowledge and skills necessary to meet organizational objectives.
• Education/Training/Experience: • High School Diploma • Associate degree in accounting or related field preferred • 3-5 years payroll experience • ADP Payroll Specialist certification a plus • PHR-Professional in Human Resources certification a plus Knowledge and Skills • Live by the TPT Core Values • Follow all policies and procedures.
