JOB TITLE: Advisor-Student Engagement Specialist CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Non-exempt COMPENSATION: Minimum Starting Salary $45,000 DIVISION: Enrollment and Student Services DEPARTMENT: Student Services REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Student Engagement SUPERVISES: N/A MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree; High-level of dependability and adaptability; Strong motivational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Successful experience in managing and nurturing a sales pipeline from lead generation to closing deals; Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate the benefits of products or services persuasively; Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teammates; Confidence to learn and use technology platforms including student information systems and learning management systems in everyday work; and Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including evening hours as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in academic advising, counseling, higher education/student affairs, student development, or related field; Proven experience and comfort with developing mentoring relationships with students of varying age and background; Familiarity with college academic and workforce program structures and requirements; and One or more years of experience working with individuals in guidance or advising.
POSITION SUMMARY: A Student Engagement Specialist (SES) provides academic advising as well as other student support services to the College’s students.
Carries a load of advisees which may include special cohort-based programs such as Pre-Nursing, Education Paraprofessional Training, Early Entry, and Workforce Development (ex.
Child Development Associate, Emergency Medical Technician, Wastewater Treatment).
Individuals in this position will frequently collaborate with personnel in many departments in the institution and with external community-based entities.
The SES acts as a student’s primary point of contact throughout their college career from admission through graduation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Academic Advising Act as primary point of contact for students through the entire student life cycle from application through completion Engage in developmental and inclusive practices to advise a diverse caseload of new and continuing NPRC students Review academic progress with students regularly and communicate timely and consistently expectations for educational requirements Accurately educate students on information pertaining to policies, procedures, education requirements, and expectations for student success as outlined in the applicable college catalog student handbook, and as outlined in the departmental handbook Assess student needs and develop student success, career development, and retention plans in collaboration with students to support the achievement of personal, educational, and career goals Complete appropriate documentation for all student interactions and departmental recordings Establish and maintain relevant and current knowledge pertaining to degree and workforce programs, curriculum changes, and requirements Work with all departments within the student services division to assist in developing seamless transitions from recruitment to successful enrollment Work as a liaison to the Financial Aid office, educating students about the opportunities for aid and the application process and assisting students as needed Represents the college at community engagement events like open houses, school visits, and information sessions Student Success and Wellness Collaborate with Academic Directors, staff, and community partners to create a safe and supportive educational environment for students Connect students with resources and opportunities including tutoring, counseling, library, and other college services, and serve as a source of ongoing support Provide students with assistance accessing appropriate college services and programs including navigation of the college’s website, support services, SIS, and LMS Advise students concerning behaviors common to successful students, such as time management, daily schedule development, self-advocacy, and building a positive support system Practice fundamental helping skills in supporting and providing information to students who disclose mental health or wellness concerns Student Cohorts Under the supervision of the ADSE, partners with NPRC faculty and staff to support and coordinate projects for emerging special programs including Pre-Nursing and Workforce Development programs Assist with developing procedures and resources for special programs to ensure accurate distribution of information and development of seamless processes Leads information sessions, workshops, and other activities that promote student engagement and success Defines and implements assessments and metrics to ensure programs/services continue to meet the needs of both students and the College Other Duties Perform other duties as assigned ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Not applicable CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: PA Child Abuse History Clearance Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History Record Check Federal Criminal History Background Check Training Certificate - Mandated and Permissive Reporting in Pennsylvania PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical and mental demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This position both allows for and requires work hour flexibility and varied hours, which may occasionally include evenings Notwithstanding the office hours, full-time salaried employees are expected to work 40 hours weekly TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Periodic travel throughout the College’s service region may be required.
Proof of ability to travel to and from any location within the College’s service region.
