Job Focus
Responsible for set-up, tool, retool, operation, inspection and provide statistical process control information for all products produced.
Ensure total process/quality control during the production of all parts
Specific Duties
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process, ensure proper indexing and fit with correct spindle and feed gears for the job you are producing
Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work
Machine parts to specifications
Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machine operations
Measure, examine, or test completed parts to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers
Set controls to regulate machine
Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
General Duties
Follow all processes and procedures.
Request a process change via the Process Improvement Change Request Procedure
Remain alert and aware to any health and safety hazards or health and safety violations and report any concerns to management.
Comply with regulatory requirements of OSHA, DEC, EPA etc
Strive to develop new ideas and techniques to improve process and/or quality
Preferred Experience.
API is committed to training out employees to be a successful machinist, however these are the preferred experiences.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of parts
Ability to read and understand basic material written in the English language
Understanding of basic mathematical concepts and problem solving using logic
Solid mechanical ability
Prefer experience in a manufacturing environment
Essential Physical Requirements
Ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to quickly and repeatedly adjust machine controls to exact position, grasp, and manipulate very small parts and hold machinery and parts in a steady pattern
Ability to push, pull, lift and move materials weighing zero to 75 pounds
Ability to visually use ll tools, gages and material associated with the operation of machines
Regularly required to stand, bend, sit and move to operate machines and move around facility

Additional Shift Information
API offers a $1.
25 shift premium on top of base wage.
Base wage is determined by experience.
API's 2nd shift is four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday.
