*Position Purpose *
The purpose of this position is to ensure all corrosion and cathodic protection systems are maintained and meet US and Canadian Regulatory Compliance and follow our Integrity Management Plan for 170 miles of pipeline.
*Position Description - Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities * · Conduct various tests, measurements, and assist in surveys to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable operation of cathodic protection facilities.
· Document all related work associated with performing and maintaining regulatory compliance and operating and maintenance procedures.
· Pipeline integrity responsibilities include assistance in running in-line inspection tools, digital metal loss and stress corrosion cracking inspection tools, and taking required CP readings during pipeline maintenance.
· Perform coating evaluations for atmospheric corrosion control.
· Must respond to, and address, callouts, and emergencies during and after regular business hours.
· Participate in federal inspections and audits.
Inspect 3rd party construction / work activities.
*Competencies/Skills* · CP techs must be able to become a NACE/AMPP Certified CP 1 (Cathodic Protection Tester) and will achieve or maintain a NACE CP 2 (Cathodic Protection Technician) or Steel Tank Institute certification.
Continued training and learning to improve technical competence through your experience.
· Proficient and safe at using hand and power tools.
· Have a mechanical or electrical background and experience using construction equipment · Can lift 70lbs as well as stoop, bend, and kneel · Have a good driving record as well as can pass a D.

physical as well a drug and alcohol screen · Can be consistent with applicable laws and follow strict safety and technical protocols · Able to work independently after initial training and has basic knowledge of computers and data entry.
· A proven, strong focus on workplace safety · Understanding of technology, equipment, and materials used in corrosion control and prevention systems common to pipeline systems.
· Familiarity with NACE/AMPP, CSA and DOT standards and guidelines · Ability to quickly comprehend technical requirements and issues and resolve them to meet company and project guidelines.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills -both written and verbal · Ability to read and interpret schematic design drawings · Remain current with best practices by attending NACE seminars and local Corrosion Committee Meetings.
· Basic principles and practices of mathematics, including algebra, geometry and trigonometry as related to cathodic protection activities.
· Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems, corrosion related portions of NEC, and NACE standards.
*Work Environment* · Required work is year-round in all weather conditions.
There will be periods that require more than 40 hours/week and weekends.
· While daily activities may be based out of an office environment, there will be travel to various locations on the pipeline.
While project work is being performed there will be extended periods of time working along the pipeline ROW.
*Physical Demands * · Working with electrical components can be dangerous and requires mandatory safe work practices and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect workers from potential work-related hazards.
Field activities can include entry into confined spaces, navigating amongst field equipment and piping, and ladder/stair access to structural platforms.
Workers should have manual dexterity and the ability to lift 20 pounds.
· A driver’s license and valid passport are required as our cathodic protection systems are in remote rural locations within the US and Canada.
Other industry requirements, such as operating an all-terrain vehicle, may be necessary.
· Ability to walk long distances, up and down hills and traverse uneven ground.

*Programs/Equipment Used* Position requires significant use of a computer, voltmeter, multimeter, reference electrodes, and soil meter.
Computer programs utilized can include ArcGIS, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
*Required Education and Experience* · A two-year technical degree in Corrosion Technology, electricity, electronics, liquid/gas pipelines, or equivalent from an approved and accredited college or university.
· NACE/AMPP Certified CP 1 (Cathodic Protection Tester) with a proven work history under the direct supervision of a NACE certified Specialist, Pipeline Operations/Maintenance, or Integrity Department.
· Approved educational courses in all areas of corrosion including but not limited to internal, external, atmospheric corrosion, coatings, AC/DC interference, etc.
· Certifications, licenses, registrations · A clean driving record is required.
*Preferred Education and Experience * · 4-year College degree.
· Working knowledge of environmental and safety aspects of coating projects.
· Working knowledge of various US and Canadian pipeline regulations including Integrity Management regulations.
· Ability to effectively manage priorities while working with various types of people.
· Candidate will be a self-motivated and self-directed individual with good communication and computer skills.
· Pipeline and/or facilities construction background or experience · Training in safety, first aid, confined space, H2S Alive, defensive driving.
